01 / INSPECTION & TESTING

Find out where
you stand.

An EICR records the condition of an existing electrical installation and anything that needs attention. It helps duty holders show they are keeping the installation safe.

01 / PLAN

Scoping the inspection

Agreeing what will be inspected, the sampling and the isolations needed, before anyone arrives on site.

  • Review of previous reports and records
  • Agreed extent and limitations
  • Isolations planned around your building

02 / INSPECT

Inspection & testing

Inspection and testing of distribution boards, circuits and accessories in line with BS 7671.

  • Visual inspection of condition
  • Testing of circuits and protective devices
  • Up-to-date circuit information where possible

03 / REPORT

Clear findings

The report explains what was found, how serious it is and what we recommend you do next.

  • Observations coded C1, C2, C3 and FI
  • Plain-English summary of priorities
  • Recommended date for the next inspection

04 / PUT RIGHT

Remedial works

Where the report raises issues, we quote for the work to resolve them and update your records once it’s done.

  • Priced remedial schedule
  • Remedial works carried out and tested
  • Certification for the completed work

02 / UNDERSTANDING YOUR REPORT

What the codes
mean.

C1 – Danger present. Risk of injury. Immediate action is needed.

C2 – Potentially dangerous. Urgent remedial action is needed.

C3 – Improvement recommended. Not a safety failure, but worth addressing.

FI – Further investigation. Something needs investigating without delay.

An installation with any C1, C2 or FI observations is reported as unsatisfactory. We explain each observation and what it will take to resolve it.

03 / BEFORE YOU ENQUIRE

Common questions.

How often does a commercial building need an EICR?

It depends on the type of premises, how it’s used and the condition of the installation. The inspector recommends the next inspection date on the report, and your insurer or landlord may set their own requirements. Tell us about your building and we’ll advise.

Will the power need to be turned off?

Some testing needs circuits to be isolated. We agree isolations with you beforehand and can work in sections, out of hours or during holidays to keep disruption down.

Our report is unsatisfactory. What now?

Send it to us. We’ll review the observations, explain the priorities and quote for the remedial work. Once complete, the work is tested and certified. See our electrical works ↗
